Tamar Braxton and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy blew the judges and audience away with their rumba on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars.” Watch the video below.
Each dancing pair had to choose a song from a year that was important to him or her for Monday’s “Most Memorable Year” night, and Braxton picked 2012. She explained that in that year, “I almost lost my husband Vince [Herbert].” Braxton said they were in New York on a trip and suddenly he didn’t feel well. They then went to the emergency room, where it was discovered that he had “multiple blood clots in his lungs.” Braxton’s husband was then placed into a medically induced coma, and remained in the hospital for weeks.
“The only thing I could think about of was how am I going to live without the love of my life by my side?” said Braxton. After he got out of the hospital and was 100 percent healthy, she said they decided to have a child. Several months later, she gave birth to their son. Braxton said the “Most Memorable Year” was then because it resulted in”two amazing miracles.”
Not only was Braxton’s story moving, but so was her rumba on Monday. Carrie Ann Inaba said between tears, “Your story touched me deeply, and yet what you danced touched me even more deeply.” She further called it “an incredible performance,” and thanked Braxton for her dance. Julianne Hough exclaimed, “I have never seen you more beautiful as you now are… Completely vulnerable, completely free, completely.” And Bruno Tonioli told Braxton, “Your connection was wired to perfection,” adding, “Thank you for doing a proper rumba.”
So, how did the pair do this fourth week? Braxton and Chmerkovskiy received a score of 27 out of 30 from the judges. Each judge awarded them a near perfect 9.
