Nyle DiMarco and Sharna Burgess danced a samba to Ruelle’s “I Get to Love You” on “Switch Up” night of “Dancing With The Stars.” DiMarco who is completely deaf, usually dances with and relies upon cues from Peta Murgatroyd. But it didn’t matter with whom he danced because the judges called it the “best” performance of the night. Watch the video below.
DiMarco’s scores on “Dancing With The Stars” have been consistently good. Last week, his Tarzan-themed samba landed the model in third place. He tied for the top spot on the “Dancing With The Stars” season premiere. And his scores in the intervening weeks as well have made DiMarco a crowd favorite and a serious contender.
Following his performance with Burgess on Week Four of “Dancing With The Stars,” Len Goodman said, “That was like a total eclipse. It doesn’t turn up much, but when it does, it’s fantastic.” Bruno Tonioli told DiMarco, “The magic of dance is alive within you.” Carrie Ann Inaba gushed, “You take my breath away,” adding, “You were born to dance.” And guest judge Maksim Chmerkovskiy declared it “the best dance of the night.”
For DiMarco and Burgess’s dance routine on “Switch Up” night, they received 37 out of a total of 40 points. But there was controversy because, in addition to Goodman’s perfect 10 score, Chmerkovskiy and Tonioli also picked up paddles with the number 10, but marked in their scorer’s book nines.
